Many students take a year off in order to work before they go to college or university. Do you think this has more advantages than disadvantages?

In our present age, in order to succeed in this competitive world, knowledge from school does not suffice, therefore in my opinion, students who continue studying from the school to university get less benefits compared to students who go to travel before going to university.

Firstly, students that continues studying from school to university will only gain theory. Of course, theory is very necessary, but you can't do everything based on theory itself. Experience and theory is needed in the working field. Even so, after graduating, graduates can't accomplish their work properly because the lack of experience in working.

This is where working before going to university benefits. People gain skills and experience, be more familiar with the job they're working. They produce a better quality of output compared to those lack of experience in work. It saves the time and money in training those people going to university without working. Besides, their education is the same as or even higher than those going to university without working.

I summary, i think student should go to travel or getting a job before going to universities. Therefore, they will not only gain basic knowledge, but also experience and skills which are useful for them to get a good job in the future.

Children will understand the concept of money, estimating the risk of spending money on something they will buy in the future.

In some countries children have very strict rules of behavior, in other countries they are allowed to do almost anything they want. To what extent should children have to follow rules?

It is a complex issue for children to follow rules, since they grow up in different cultures. In India, children are considered to be obedient and submissive to their parents. However, this is not the case for Western countries where children follow the motto" I shall do what i want". In this case, i believe following strict rules has its positive and negative setbacks.

Firstly, strict rules of behavior turn children into more responsible and respectful. This forms a stable society where it is free from vices such as prostitution and drug abuse. Secondly, if children do not follow strict rules, they will get out of hand and do whatever they want.

However, forcing children to follow strict rules doesn't always have it's positive results as mentioned above. Teenagers are more likely to do the opposite of what they're told to do. Children should be given more rights to develop their own patterns of behaviors.

In summary, it is clear that children should be guided by rules, however, these rules should not be imposed on them because they have the room to develop their own traits of character and adopt to a behavioral pattern of their own.

You successfully passed a job interview. You are expected to start on November 15, but you will not be available on that date. Task: Write a letter to your new boss, explaining your situation, expressing your concern and suggesting solution.

Dear Sir/Madam,

This letter is to inform you that i won't be able to start work on the 15th of November.

The reason that i can't start working is because my mother fell from the stairs and broke her leg yesterday. The doctor says that it will take 2 weeks for her leg to heal and walk again, therefore i have to take care of her during this period. I'm very sorry to cause you this trouble. As the only child in the family, i have no choice but to look after her. I apologize for not being able to turn up on that day.

I am able to work for home and will complete the project as mentioned. I will report to you through email, and if there's a problem, i will inform you along the way.

My briefcase is a a soft leather one, brown colored with 2 buckles at the front. The buckles are gold-plated. There's a scratch at the bottom in the left-hand corner of the bag. The brand name is at the top right hand corner, written GUCCI on it.

Even though globalization affects the world’s economies in a positive way, its negative side should not be forgotten. Discuss.

In the present age, globalization have played a big part in influencing our lives. Some people argue that globalization have influence and benefit our lives, while some argues the detrimental effect of globalization as well.

Globalization does not only play a big part in the development of technology and economy, but also promoting the cultural exchange between other countries.

Firstly, people can get to know each other from other countries. People can set

up multinational companies in other places, making a contribution to the local technology and employment. On the other hand, people can watch movies performed by other countries, such as Kungfu Panda and The Mummy.

The effect of globalization can be seen almost everywhere and everyday.

It is very common to see teenagers wearing Nike T-shirts and adidas footwear, listening to western music on Ipods, dancing Hip-hops, eating at KFC. People might learn to follow cultures from other countries, and neglect their own culture. Another negative aspect of globalization is the risk and danger of epidemic disease which easily spread in the society today. One of the evidence is the arise in bird's flu disease which has infected most Asian countries over a short time period.

In summary, I am convinced that we should promote globalization. Although globalization does come with some negative and positive aspects. However, the positive aspects have far outweigh the negative aspects of it.

You had a small accident in the kitchen at your rental place. Write to your landlord and say

- How did it happen?

Dear Mr. Franklin,

I am writing to complain to you about the place i rented from you few days ago.

I came back from work at 8 PM like usual. I went inside my room and change into my clothes. While I was changing my clothes, I suddenly smelt something coming from the kitchen. I went to the kitchen to check it, and was surprised to see the stove wasn't turned off properly, thus causing the gas coming out from it. I immediately turned it off and opened the windows and doors, to let the gas escape.

This is a serious matter. Good thing i noticed that the gas was leaking, or else it would have been a disaster. I am pretty sure that you forgot to turn off the stove properly before going out. Thankfully, nothing was damaged.

I decided to rent this place from you because of the previous good recommendations my friend gave about, however after this experience, i felt horrified.

Please be more careful in the future, i hope this kind of accident will never happen again.

Some think that news and media have too much influence on people’s lives. Is it a negative or a positive development?

During the 20th century, newspapers are treated as a rich form of mass communication, as well as today. Today, news can be shared in a second due to the invention of TV, radio, and internet.

The media provides us with daily news. People can get to know of what's happening today in other countries. On the one hand, the media also informs about important events, such as scientist's new invention, Charity shows, environment problems, new technology, so that we are aware of it.

The media plays a big part in influencing people's life, especially children. Children can benefit from watching TV and media. Watching animal channel will enable them to learn about animal specifications and how animals adapt to their habitat.

People can now surf the internet, and get to know more people. Students can do their assignments and obtain information easier. Meanwhile, it is easier for businessman to travel overseas since ticket can be booked through internet. The media makes life much convenient and easier than before.

However, some people might use the internet to surf for porn websites, or play online games. Children might sit in front of TV all day watching it, thus damaging their eyesight.

In my opinion, although the media has both and negative affects, but I believe the mass media has far more positive development compared to the negative development. If one can focus and put the media into a good use, then the media itself can be considered as "flawless."

“The first car appeared on Britain’s road in 1888. By the year 2000 there may be as many as 29 million vehicles on British roads. Alternative forms of transport should be encouraged and international laws introduced to control car ownership and use. What are your views?”

It is a fact that the population of cars we see today have dramatically increased since the year of 1990's. Problems such as traffic congestion, jammed roads, traffic accidents, pollution in the environment have been increasing. This is mainly because people are able to afford cars with higher living standards, which means that more and more people own cars.

In my opinion, people shouldn't use car too much often. The fact that that a car gives out extremely poisonous gas and pollutes the environment. Another alternative forms of transport may be the usage of bicycle.

Bicycle is environmental friendly. It doesn't emit out hazardous gas. Meanwhile, riding a bicycle doesn't involve accidents and traffics, it is much safer and healthier compared to cars. Not to mention the cost of a car, a bicycle is much cheaper.

Government can increase taxes and the price of cars, or point out new law to limit the number of cars per family/per company. This will reduce the usage of cars in this society.

In conclusion, i think we should be more conscious regarding the usage of cars. In exchange, we can use bicycle, another alternative method of transportation which is way much safer and healthier than car.

Even though developing countries receive financial help, poverty is still an issue. Some say they should be receiving other kind of help, to eliminate poverty. To what extent do you agree or disagree? Give examples and suggest what other form of help can be offered.

Throughout all the century, the problem of poverty still hounds mankind. Some developed countries have overcome this issue, however developing countries are still facing this problem despite the fact they received billions of dollars in the form of international aid. It is clear that simply providing monetary assistance will not be enough to deal with the menace of poverty.

The root cause of poverty is not because of the shortage of money, but the lack of knowledge on how to generate wealth. It has been aptly said," Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime". Developing countries need to take actions in improving social health, education, and skill development of citizens in poor countries.

Focusing on technologies such agricultural can increase their food production. Moreover, giving them education and knowledge can change their better quality of life. Improving in health care such as building more medical facilities can aid in improving the health of the citizens.

Overall, I agree that developing countries should receive financial aid from developed countries. However, developing countries should use the money they receive to improve their quality of life, such as building more medical facilities, improving in technologies and food production, and give them further education. With this, we are more likely to see reduction in poverty.

Financial education should be a mandatory component of the school program. To what extent do you agree or disagree with this statement?

In some countries, many young generations are facing difficulties concerning financial problems. In my opinion, I agree that financial education should be treated as a mandatory subject at school.

The common problem for those young people is that they don't know how to manage their monetary problems well. As we can see, the moment an advertisement carry out the message," Only 20 dollars a week, with no deposits."

This is very misleading. Young ones might think that living in a debt is normal.

Mostly, children's money come from their parents. Children might not understand the importance and value of money, thus spending money without even thinking twice. They think that earning money is simple and an easy task, unfortunately, it's the other way around.

A financial education is one of the solution to this problem. Children can learn and understand the concept of using money, estimating the risk of spending money to buy something in the future. They will be able to manage money well, and spend their money wisely. Children will think twice, whether it is wise to purchase the

item before buying it.

However, financial education doesn't always have it's positive results as mentioned above. Financial education involves setting prices and value for certain goods, this can result children turning into cold-hearted beings. Meanwhile, being too egoistic and self-centered might rise when one starts to measure things from a profit-making perspective.

Overall, financial education has it's positive and negative aspects. In my opinion, the advantages are stronger than the disadvantages, therfore i agree that financial education should be treated as a important subject at school. Children will understand the importance of money and spending money in a wise way.

The idea of having a single career is becoming an old fashioned one. The new fashion mil be to have several careers or ways of earning money and further education will be something that continues throughout life.

Throughout the history, people had seen and are seeing a lot of changes. In the past, people preferred having a single career in a single profession, however, today, we can see

that many people are having several careers and further education.

It is a fact that society today is too competitive compared to the past. We can see that many people are facing unemployment, or redundancy.

The demand of qualities have increased, people would much prefer several careers than single careers. This is because several careers hold more skills compared to the first one, chances of being employed is higher if one possesses more skills.

Today, children, or even adults in age of thirties, are even studying to improve the better quality of life. Children may take more courses like music, arts, other language courses, so that they'll possess more skills and have higher chance of being employed in the future.

It is a must that children nowadays should have further education, to enrich their knowledge and skills.. It is true, the more things people can do, the more chances they could have find a good job.

Some people might do several jobs to get more salaries, some might continue their further education to find better chance to get jobs. This is mainly because of the demand to survive of people.

Should Wealthy nations be required to share their wealth and poorer nations by providing such things as food and education?

Or is it the responsibility of the governments of poorer nations to look after their citizens themselves?

Wealthy nations should share their wealth to poorer nations, however, the government of the poor nations must help themselves too by improving

the quality of their life. It doesn't mean that, by receiving help from the wealthy nations, the poorer nations would sit and do nothing.

In my opinion, wealthy nations could share their wealth by providing emergency help, such as foods,clothes,money,shelter, and medicines. This could save them from

starvation or diseases. The next thing to focus on, could be education, technologies, knowledge, and health care. Focusing on and technologies such as

agricultural could increase their food production. Moreover, by giving them education and knowledge, they can enrich and change the better quality of life.

By sharing their wealth to poorer nations, they could decrease the rate of criminals, robberies, assaults, or even illegal immigration entering their country.

Besides, there's nothing to lose,it's always a good thing to help one another. As the saying goes, the more you give, the more you'll get.

Although the poorer nations should be supported by other countries, however the government must still take responsibility

to help their people to improve their quality of life. The money that they receive should be used firstly on urgent problems such as

the basic of human needs, to stabilize their poverty conditions..

Today in this world, you can find many types of music such as Pop, Jazz, Rock, and others.

What is the importance of Music?

Music can stimulate our mind, the harmony of music, the sound it creates, can be pleasing to the ears.

Concert music opens up a new whole world experience, and further enhances the mind, body, soul.

Music can affect one's mood.

it can make a person happy, excited, calm, or even feel relax. the harmony of music, can nurture one's soul.

Music are said to be an important factor of learning,

children at the age of 3, are advised to listen to music.

probably, parents can play CD's, or other instruments at home.

Music can help children learn things faster, most importantly,

it can keep them calm, relax, and glowing spirit all day along.

Although many music types are created these days, we mustn't forget our traditional music.

Traditional music, is a type of music that originates from our hometown, or country.

It symbolizes the national culture of a country, or even commemorate a history or personal events.

Traditional music might differ with music nowadays in terms of instruments being used,

traditional music may focus more on vocal, dancing, and drums.

People nowadays hardly listen to traditional music compared to international music.

Although traditional music sometimes may not be pleasing to the ears,

but we should learn to appreciate the thoughts and efforts of those people creating this fine traditional music.

As the saying goes, traditional music symbolizes our nation's culture and history.

in conclusion, both traditional and international music are important,

what's important is the value and the benefits of listening to music.

Therefore, we shouldn't just listen to international music, and not traditional music.

Remember, music stimulates the body and the soul of a person, nurtures their mind and opens up a new whole world of experience.
